Being single - 2007/02/23 23:11 I think being single is ok as you are free to do what you want to do.

I think also being single can be lonely sometimes.

I am still looking for the right woman who doesnt judge a book by the cover

Re:Being single - 2007/05/30 21:50 Dear Karl. Let me not to agree with you.
To be single is absolutely not the same to be alone. In my view.
Yeah, I'm single. I've no either husband or boyfriend. But it doesn't mean I'm alone. No way! I've many friends. I've many takings. I'm very sociable. And I absolutely don't feel myself alone!
All the best Julia.

Re:Lots of single men - 2007/06/15 23:13 I get what you’re saying Karl. As active and social as one might be, it is still not like having the love and emotional connection with a partner. I don’t think anybody really wants to be alone – no matter how fulfilled their life is.

Re:being single - 2007/06/16 17:30 BEING SINGLE

I am single, I have very few friends, I would consider myself to be lonely, but I try for it not to effect my life, I go on with things as best as I can. Lonilness is quite hard to understand & to comprehend at times, for people who have a lot of company around them.

They dont notice being lonely as much. There are people who have loads of people in their lives, which they can be lonely. Like the saying you can be lonely in a room of 100 people.

Re:being single - 2007/06/22 02:41 I agree, I guess being lonely is relative term. One can be surrounded by family and friends and still be lonely. Lonely or not I still think that people are looking for love.

Re:Being single - 2007/09/20 14:17 Good luck Karl, and don't ever go to USA. In America, everybody judges each other by the way he/she looks. "you are what you look on the outside" as far as the Americans are concern. That is one major reason I am immigrating out of there.

Re:Being single - 2007/10/07 18:29 There is a difference between being alone and being lonely. You can be in a crowd of people at Grand Central Station and still feel lonely. You might use the word alone when you describe the situation: "I feel so alone." However, you're in Grand Central freaking Station. You're not alone. You're lonely.
Maybe your job sent you on a trip to a foreign country. You're in a comfortable hotel, and just down stairs there's a lobby and a bar and a restaurant.. Maybe you're in a major metropolitan area. A real tourist trap with hundreds of thousands of people within spitting distance from your window. However, your spouse and your kids and your family and your friends and everyone you hold dear is on the other side of the ocean, or maybe the whole planet. You might be alone in your hotel room, but you're not alone in the world. You may however, feel lonely.

You can also be the only person in your house, and you haven't been with anyone notable for awhile and you don't plan to be with anyone notable for the forseeable future. Maybe it doesn't bother you. Maybe you meant for this to happen. Maybe you need to work on a project of some sort and need no distractions so you can concentrate. Maybe you're going to write that novel you've been meaning to write all your life. Maybe you need to do your taxes. Doesn't matter. The point is, you're alone and it doesn't bother you at all. You chose to be alone. You're comfortable with yourself and who you are. You're alone but you're not lonely.

It's uncomfortable to be lonely, but if you're not alone you can usually do something about it. If you're alone but not lonely, there's no problem at all, is there? The thing to avoid is being alone and lonely at the same time. That is perhaps the greatest trap to anything living.

Re:Being single - 2007/10/16 06:31 I suppose being alone and being lonely comes and goes. When you have things to do you tend not to notice so much how alone you maybe. Sometimes if something good happens, or bad and you only want to tell someone maybe the special someone and you are alone then it can hit home. Sometimes i feel lonely sometimes i don't i would rather have someone in my life i get on with then be with someone just because i'm lonely.[/color]

Re:Being single - 2007/10/16 08:20 Good point, Demeter. I am often alone, but I rarely feel lonely. It really depends on the person.

Re:Being single - 2007/10/21 08:22 i truly believe that men dislike being single less than women. That's sad for women.

Re:Being single - 2007/10/22 23:01 In fact, says DePaulo, "many single women are living lives of secret contentment."

Myth #2 Single women are lonely.

Reality: Everyone is lonely sometimes—even married people. But most single women (as well as women with spouses) actually enjoy their solitude.

Re:Being single - 2008/04/03 20:02 well a bigger bummer is being widowed - i was a dedicated singleton till i met the woman of my dreams and then lost her to cancer after only 4.5 years - so now am "single " again and hating every Minuit of it - add to that being older and disabled and social life is somewhat non existent - and so called friends .............. phaaaaaaa

so if you have some one or even some real friends - treasure them - for they are worth more than all the riches of the world
