T5 Complete Spinal Cord Injury 1 month 1 week ago #72332

Hi everyone I’m Elizabeth. Everyone calls me Liz. I’m almost at my 1 year post injury. My question is what is the hardest thing you’ve dealt with being a spinal cord injury survivor? I have a range of emotions. But curious and looking for some guidance. Thanks.

Hi Liz. I had a spinal cord injury at C4/5 in 2013. Paralysis, spasticity, spasms and double incontinence have prevented me from doing most of the things I would like to do. So much of my life has been taken away. The mental damage has been almost as serious as the physical damage. I have lost all independence and most of the control of my life - when to get up, go to bed, eat …..
I was almost 65 when it happened so had most of my life as a fit person. My heart goes out to you. Barry.
