Hello everyone! First of all sorry for my English, but I'm Italian (I'm trying my best!
Lately, my brother (who is disabled) is suffering from back pain; he got no trunk autonomy and we let him sit on a single couch.
So I was thinking about buying a lateral supports for the couch but I couldn't find anything (just for wheelchairs). Eventually, I was thinking about building it to help my brother sitting better and easier.
(I'm posting a picture so you can understand what I mean, but this is not even a prototype yet)
Hence the conclusion: if I can build something useful for my brother, maybe something like this is needed by others?
Do you think it can be useful to you or people you know or not? And why?
So good that because you can't find anything that can help your brother your willing to have a go at building something to help him. Have you got in touch with a mobility store that caters to disabled people? You can find local ones online or ask your G.P, social worker or Occupational therapist as they will be able to help you better.
Hello bubbadog14, yea surely everything starts for my brother, but it that helps him maybe it can help others.
Yesterday I tried two shops, and the only thing that can be done is an invasive operation to the chair we have. My idea is just a normal cushion, semirigid and maybe a little bigger than the one in the picture, that can help to avoid falling side-to-side.
We use to put cushions each side and that helps a lot, but what I'm thinking is adapted cushions for this reason, and if that can help I can produce them also for others, but only if it is needed from others.
