ABOUT US

Able Here is a community website for disabled people, as many disabled people would like to talk to other disabled people about their disabilities. For example, a recent stroke survivor might want to talk to other stroke survivors to get help, advice, or just a good chat! Because the real people who can really help you with your condition are the people who have the same disability as you!

There are many ways of communicating with other members on here, you can write an internal email to them through the website. This means, the user doesn’t see your e-mail address or any of your personal details. We also have a chatroom to talk to the members in real time and you can have 1 to 1 chats with them.

The website also has a penpal section but unlike other websites, you don’t give out your personal details such as email addresses. We have designed it so every penpal message goes through to you without using your personal details. You are safe here.

We have a forum to discuss serious subjects such as disability benefits or light hearted topics like interests and hobbies, you can evenplay puzzles with other membersor tell a joke or two.

We have a news section to bring you latest disability news.

We have a video section, to bring you the latest videos on disabilities. Such as People views, Technology for disabled people, disability sports, travel and events, pets, Sketches, Stand-up & Spoofs, and many more

If you have spare few minutes try our games, we have loads of games such as Pinball, Bat & Mouse 2, Air Strike, Action Fish, and many more. A new game is added every month so you won’t get bored.

Able Here History

In December 2006, the website went live! I (Karl Dean) created the website! I am the first person in the UK to do a degree with a headpointer. I don’t give up as I am a fighter. People said Able Here would close down in the 1st year because I didn’t have any money to advertise the website.

Well, guess they was wrong as I’m still fighting and I am now a heavy weight fighter in the disabilities online community as the website gets over 120,000 hits every month.

In October 2022, I totally redesigned the website to give it a more modern look and make it work on any screen, such as mobile phones

Remember it’s good to communicate, so don’t just sit there.
