Just a little about me...

Hello my name is Troy and so far I've been a member of this site for four days... Earlier part of this year I became ill and hand to be rushed to the hospital where I laid on my death bed for quite awhile... The doctors performed a surgery on me that saved my life but disabling me along with the illment that put me there... It seems as though when my disability became a reality my so called friends became few... I spent three months in the hospital where a lot of my days lonely and my nights full of tears... I made myself a promised to meet new friends and to surround myself with those who really care and can relate to my struggle...Therefore I am here to meet some new friends, hopefully life lasting friends...

Troy, just to touch base with you again. I needed to reread your post and I wanted to get back to you. I want you to know that most of us here understand about when friends and family disappear from your life once you become disabled. (I kind of like the term "differently abled").

I am married and have 2 grown daughters. They are supportive of me and know I'm not the same person I was even 10 years ago. I think it is just as hard for them as it is for me! My situation came on gradually so the losses have been gradual. You sound like you are still reeling a bit from becoming ill quickly. That is hard. It's great that you have your kids, because now you can show them the most important thing they may ever learn...how to survive!

am very much touched with your words but am encouraging you not to fear as God is all way long with you friends might leave you bt God will never and through you will get many friends some will come personally to see you.

I hear ya. Been along time alone here. At time I wish my dog and cat could talk. Whenever you want to chat I'll be watchin.

You have to keep smiling, it gets easier or that is what everyone tells me, so I guess I will keep smiling, lets hope no one thinks I have escaped from somewhere :laugh: :laugh:

I agree with you! I wish my cats could talk as I can imagine them saying to one another 'damn these people are crrraaazzyy! At least we got some peace at the R.S.P.C.A centre!!' :lol:

I know what you mean Sadie, some days when I don't feel like smiling I go around with this false smile on my face to keep everyone happy and by the end of the day I get muscle ache in my face muscles! People must think I'm going crazy with this big smile on my face like the Joker from the Batman movie! I even have a Canvas on my bedroom wall of the Joker!!

My name is Mali and i joined this site after i fell down around june and broke my right leg although i had a polio before on my left leg i did not know that one day i will be so lonely with out any one from my family with me.
I had my son after i left the hospital and most of the time i was so lonely so i looked for a site of people who we share the same problem for they can understand me better.
It has not been easy to find friends but am sure with time i will.

I also had a similar experience as a child....hospitalised...and friends carried on life ,leaving me behind...I realised that there's only one person you can count on and that's yourself...but it is a letdown and heartbreaking ...
